How you may use the archive
You may:
— Read, download, and quote manifestos for personal research, journalism, education, scholarship, civic engagement, and other lawful purposes
— Cite AfroManifesto as the source from which you accessed a document
— Link to pages on afromanifesto.com without requesting permission
You may not:
— Re-host manifestos elsewhere as if they were your own
— Modify manifestos and republish them in altered form without making the modification clear
— Use the archive to harass, defame, or threaten any individual or organisation
— Scrape, crawl, or systematically download the site at a rate that affects its availability for others
— Misrepresent the archive’s editorial position — for example, by suggesting that AfroManifesto endorses a party or candidate
Copyright and manifestos
Manifestos in the archive are the intellectual property of the political parties that published them. AfroManifesto reproduces them in their original form as historical documents under principles of fair use, archival preservation, and public interest.
If you are a representative of a political party and you have a concern about a manifesto in the archive, please see our Copyright and Permissions page for the process to request review.
The original framing, methodology, editorial commentary, and Journal essays on this site are the intellectual property of AfroManifesto NPC. They may be cited and quoted with attribution but not reproduced in full without permission.
User submissions
When you submit a document, correction, or other content to AfroManifesto:
— You confirm that you have the right to share the content with us
— You grant AfroManifesto the right to review, verify, and — if accepted — preserve and display the content as part of the archive
— You understand that we may contact you to verify the submission
We do not pay for submissions. The archive is a public-interest project.
Accuracy and disclaimers
We work hard to ensure the archive is accurate. We verify documents against multiple sources where possible and correct errors when they are reported. Despite this:
— The archive is provided “as is”, without warranty of completeness or accuracy
— We are not responsible for decisions made on the basis of information in the archive
— Manifestos in the archive reflect the positions of the parties that published them — not the positions of AfroManifesto
If you spot an error, please report it through our corrections process.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the site after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Any disputes arising from your use of the site will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
